Heirloom

An heirloom’s value is dependent exclusively on the family to which it belongs. We can choose to reject the significance these objects have to us independently in the same way we choose to accept or reject learned behavior from our family. This work is an ongoing exploration of Magowan’s transition as a photographer through images of her family and friends. By creating her own rendition of photographic heirlooms, she is choosing what is personally significant in these observations.
